Int’l Girl Child Day: Oyo Youth Reps. Hon. Aisha Empowers Girls Across Oyo Central with Educational Support

In a remarkable show of youth leadership and community service, Hon. Hamzat Ayisat, Representative of Oyo Central Senatorial District at the Nigeria Youth Parliament, marked the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child with an educational outreach across schools and communities in Akinyele and Ona Ara Local Governments of Oyo State. The initiative focused on empowering the girl-child through education, mentorship, and leadership awareness—reaching students of Aponmode High School 1 & 2, FEWAB Group of Schools, and communities in Ogidi and Ankara Villages.

The initiative, themed around empowering girls through education and mentorship, reached Aponmode High School 1 and 2 (Old Moniya) and FEWAB Group of Schools in Akinyele Local Government, as well as Ogidi and Ankara Villages in Ona Ara Local Government, where Hon. Ayisat distributed learning materials and inspired the students through engaging sessions.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Ayisat emphasized the importance of education as a foundation for empowerment and nation-building.

“Every girl deserves the opportunity to dream, to learn, and to thrive,”
she declared, urging the girls to stay focused and believe in their potential to become leaders and changemakers.

The program featured mentorship talks, career guidance, and motivational discussions designed to help the students identify their goals and develop self-confidence. Educational materials, including exercise books, pens, and reading aids, were distributed to promote literacy and support classroom learning.

The outreach aligns with the global theme of the International Day of the Girl Child 2025, which calls for strengthening girls’ access to education, leadership inclusion, and equal opportunities.

Hon. Ayisat appreciated her sponsors and partners, including Engr. (Dr.) Jubril Dotun Sanusi (CEO, Ilaji Resort), Hon. (Chief) Dr. Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji (OTOPE), Director-General, Oyo State Liaison Office (Abuja & Lagos), Hon. Uwagboe Osawemwenhio, Minority Leader, Nigeria Youth Parliament, and President, Yoruba Youth Council YYC, Aare Alawode Rahmon for their unwavering support toward empowering the girl-child in Oyo Central.

She also commended the Fakayode Abibola Foundation, her volunteers, and her entire team for their dedication to the vision.

A student representative, Miss Adeola, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude for the initiative, describing it as “a confidence booster that motivates young girls to pursue education and leadership.”

Hon. Ayisat reaffirmed her commitment to promoting girl-child education and youth development, calling the project “an investment in the nation’s future.”
