‘Install CCTVs or Face Jail Term’— State Governor Orders Churches, Schools
In a bid to combat rising cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, and ritual killings, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has directed all functional churches, schools, and owners of public places to install Smart Surveillance Cameras (CCTV).
The directive, signed by Secretary to the State Government Dr. Kingsley Emu, aims to provide adequate security in and around public places. Failure to comply will result in a 2-year jail term, a fine of N500,000, and the sealing of the affected premises until compliance is achieved.
Affected establishments include shopping malls, eateries, cinemas, supermarkets, petrol and gas stations, private parks, event centers, hotels, public and private offices.
