The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the final list of candidates cleared to contest in the forthcoming bye-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Egalitrian Voice reports that the bye-election, scheduled for August 16th, 2025 following the recent vacancy declared in the constituency, has drawn wide interest across political parties and electorates in Oyo State.
According to the INEC list published on Monday, the following candidates will be on the ballot:
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for assured the public of INEC’s commitment to conducting a transparent, free, and credible election, noted that all arrangements are underway for the smooth conduct of the bye-election, including logistics, security deployment, and voter education.

Political analysts predict a tight race, particularly between the PDP, APC, and rising third-force parties such as the Labour Party and ADC—whose candidate, Dr. Femi Akin-Alamu, was the LP candidate in the 2023 general election and now commands a growing support base.
The Ibadan North bye-election is expected to serve as a litmus test for party strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
