In a world where hunger remains a silent crisis, the Ibadan Food Bank Initiative (IBFBI) continues to be a beacon of hope in Oyo State, Nigeria. The year 2024 was one of remarkable impact, growth, and resilience for the organization as it further strengthened its commitment to tackling food insecurity and poverty in underserved communities.
From humble beginnings, Ibadan Food Bank has grown into a well-structured and community-driven non-profit, ensuring that no family in Ibadan and its environs is left behind. The 2024 annual report showcases the passion, dedication, and collaborative spirit that fuel this mission.
At the heart of IBFBI’s work is the commitment to end hunger, reduce food waste, and promote sustainable livelihoods. In 2024, the initiative successfully distributed food items and nutritional support to over 12,000 vulnerable households across Ibadan North, Ibadan North-East, Ibadan South-West, and Egbeda Local Government Areas. This was achieved through monthly food outreaches, emergency interventions, and targeted feeding programs.
Speaking on the report, Oyeleke Precious the Admin Officer highlighted the significant of the report. “The report is not just numbers or achievements on paper – it’s a reflection of countless hours of planning, dedication, teamwork and the relentless passion of every volunteer, donor and partner who believes in our vision.”
Popoola Olalekan, the Lead Volunteer said the Initiative 2024 achievements would not have been possible without the unwavering support of donors, partners, and friends. The organization received generous donations from companies such as Bovas and Company Limited, Survival Agricultural Hub Limited, Lagos Food Bank Initiative alongside individual donors whose contributions made a difference, no matter how small. Religious organizations, market leaders, and community associations also played pivotal roles in both outreach activities and beneficiary identification.
As we step into 2025, IBFB invites everyone — individuals, companies, and organizations — to join hands in the fight against hunger. Whether through volunteering, donations, food contributions, or skills training, every action counts. Hunger may seem like an overwhelming challenge, but with collective effort, it can be defeated.
The journey continues, and Ibadan Food Bank remains committed to making Ibadan and its surrounding communities healthier, stronger, and hunger-free.
