House Of Representatives Approves Second Reading Of Bill For Additional State
A bill proposing the creation of Ogoja State has successfully passed its second reading in the House of Representatives on Thursday. Sponsored by Godwin Offiono and three others, the constitution alteration bill aims to amend the 1999 Constitution to establish an additional state in the South-South region.
In presenting the motion, Offiono emphasized that the bill is rooted in the principle of equity. If enacted, it would increase the number of states in the South-South region to seven.
