Oyo State governorship aspirant, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi (BASA), has expressed heartfelt condolences over the death of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Dr. Owolabi Akinloye Ige-Olakulehin I, describing his transition as a monumental loss to Ibadanland and the Yoruba race.

In her tribute, Hon. BASA described the late monarch as a father figure and custodian of Ibadan’s cultural values, whose calm leadership and dedication to unity marked his reign, even though brief.
“Oba Olakulehin was not just a royal figure, but a symbol of integrity, peace, and wisdom. His life embodied the strength and resilience of Ibadan, and his passage leaves a deep void in our hearts.”

She reflected on the significance of his reign, stating that though short, it was marked by dignity, harmony, and commitment to tradition. His contributions to preserving Ibadan’s heritage and promoting communal development will not be forgotten.

“He was a voice of reason and a beacon of stability in our society. We take solace in the impactful legacy he has left behind and the memories he gifted us with,” she added.
Hon. BASA extended her sympathies to the royal family, the Olubadan-in-Council, and the entire people of Ibadanland, while offering prayers for the peaceful repose of the late monarch’s soul.
“May the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and give the royal family the strength to bear this loss.”
