Hardship: Osun State Govt Reduces Workdays For Civil Servants

The Osun State Government has reduced working days for public workers following a rise in transportation costs, food and other essentials that was triggered by a hike in petrol prices.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, following a circular from the Office of the Head of Service.

According to the statement, Servants on GL.01 to GL.10, have three days a week, while Public Servants on GL12 to GL.17, have four days a week.

He affirmed that the governor had also approved the continuation of payment of the agreed palliatives to public servants in the state for the next two months pending the commencement of the new minimum wage.

He stated: “The working day schedules for Public Servants in the State have been approved as follows: Public Servants on GL.01 to GL.10 – Three days a week, Public Servants on GL12 to GL.17 – Four days a week.”

The arrangement is said to exclude those on essential duties such as medical personnel, security officers, political office holders, and Accounting Officers.

 

He added that arrangement as to which days each public servant in the above categories will be at work shall be arranged by the accounting officers in ministries, departments, and agencies of government.

  1. This is a nice step that was taking by OSUN STATE to soften the hardship of their workers. God will be with the governor and all the cabinet members that decided to do this.
