A political pressure group known as Atikulated Global Movement (AGM) has urged the good people of Kogi state to support the candidacy of Sen. Dino Melaye as the gubernatorial candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) and go out en mass to vote for him in the November 11 gubernatorial election.
This was made known to news men in Lokoja the Kogi state capital on Thursday the 19th day of October 2023 by the national Chairperson of Atikulated Global Movement (AGM) Nigeria and in the Diaspora. Hon. (Mrs) Bolanle Sarumi Aliyu GCMW/VHPP Politically addressed as BASA during a meeting with the state Chapter of AGM.
According to Hon. (Mrs) BASA Sen. Dino Melaye is contesting for the Governor of Kogi state of Nigeria, on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Nov. 11 gubernatorial election because the good people of Kogi had asked him to rescue them from the 8 years of misrule of the All Prigressive Congress (APC).
Hon. BASA maintained that the good people of Kogi state is aware of the anticidence of Sen. Dino Melaye and his capacity as a tested and trusted politician whose experience in public office spans from:
1. The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)
2. And later the Secretary-General of African Youth Council
3. And then that of the Commonwealth Youth Council.
4. Thereafter, He was appointed by President Olusegun Obasanjo to chair the Presidential Advisory Council on Youths.
6. In 2015, he joined the People’s Democratic Party where he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives representing Kabba/Ijumu federal constituency.
7. Also, He was elected a member of 8th senate for Kogi-West.
On 23 February 2019 he was re-elected to return as senator representing kogi-West senatorial district .
8. He was the Chairman Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
9. Former Senate Committee Chairman on Aviation in Nigeria.
10. He was the spokesperson of 2023 Presidential candidates of the People’s Democratic Party, H.E. Alhaji Atiku Abubar.
11. Dino Melaye sponsored about 20 bills and moved over 30 motions in the 8th national assembly:
- A Bill for an Act to provide for the Establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture, Kabba.
- A Bill for the prohibition of persons from lynching, mob action and extrajudicial executions. It seeks to protect crime suspects from extrajudicial and summary executions by offering statutory protection.
- The disability integration bill
- protection against domestic violence and other bills sponsored by Sen. Melaye.
H.E. Sen. Dino Melaye has the capacity, and he is competent, his personality is unequalled and his antecedent speaks volume .Only Sen. Dino can salvage the good people of Kogi state from their current political cum economic quagmire, because he is endowed with the leadership skills to formulate and implement realistic policies to solve the socio economic problems of the good people of Kogi state.
