As the 2023 general election draws closer, Governor Seyi Makinde’s Governorship Campaign train continued its Local Government campaign tour in Ibadan after finishing up in the Oke Ogun zone.

Last weekend, Governor Makinde was in Ona Ara Local Government. With the same spirit, his Excellency also visited Oluyole and Ido local government areas on February 20, 2023, telling the good people what Omituntun 2.0 would bring to Oyo State and beyond.

Thousands of Youth Stakeholders, Party faithfuls, religious leaders, teachers, pensioners, market women, and a host of others received the Governor and his entourage with joy on their faces, and they are optimistic about the actualization of Omituntun 2.0.

The Director-General of Youth Mobilization for Governor Makinde’s re-election bid, Hon. Dr. Salami Ibraheem Oladeji (DIKKO), expressed his appreciation to all the youth constituents and the good people of Ona Ara, Oluyole, and Ido LGAs. He believes that the bloc of votes for the Governor and other candidates in the forthcoming elections will give our party PDP victory in the poll.

“His Excellency, Gov. Makinde, made it known at the campaign ground to his people that, under Omituntun 2.0 in all these local governments, assured sustainable development growth is what Oyo state deserves, and the masses will benefit greatly from it,” Dikko stated.

During the Ona Ara LGA campaign visit, Governor Makinde held his campaign rally at Olorunsogo Area, touching on all the major areas in the local government.

According to Governor Makinde, “We’re grateful to our people in Ona Ara LGA for their overwhelming show of love and support. We drove through Oremeji-Badeku-Ojoku and Ajia and held a rally at Olorunsogo. I assured them the 21 km Aiport-Ajia-New Ife Road will be completed very soon.

We met with traditional rulers led by the Oniladuntan of Ilu Laduntan, Alhaji Adebowale Kamorudeen Adeyemi JP. One of the issues raised that I addressed was that of the land allocated for the Air Force Base. I said all landowners affected would be duly compensated under our administration.

As usual, we met with religious leaders: the League of Imams and Alfas at Sawia Mosque, Olorunsogo; traditional worshippers led by Emifomo Ayoade; and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at St Anne’s Catholic Church, Olorunsogo. We thanked them for their prayers and support.

Finally, we met with various other groups: traders led by Alhaji Ibrahim; artisans led by Tajudeen Akinwale; non-indigenes led by Mr. Moses Owuru; Landlords Association in Ajia led by Mr. Famutimi Richard; tipper drivers led by Adebayo Gafar; and Inukan Development Forum led by Engineer Sunday Gbenjo.

Governor Makinde flagged off the rehabilitation of the 5km Odo Ona Kekere-Arapaja-Asunle Road, which is being carried out by the local government while he was in Oluyole LGA. He also held a rally at Olomi Junction to thank Oluyole residents for their support. In addition, he met with various groups, including traditional rulers, traditional worshippers, the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), market men and women, traders and artisans, people living with disabilities, and non-indigenes. Aderoju at Power Pentecostal Church along Top One Garden, and expressed his gratitude for their prayers and support.

During his visit to Ido LGA, Governor Makinde highlighted his administration’s achievements in ensuring all-around development in the state over the last 44 months and emphasized that his administration has ensured that the state gets value for its money on all projects. He also mentioned that Ido LG, which straddles Akinyele and Oluyole Local Governments, is a major economic hub of the state that is home to the ongoing Gas Infrastructure Project and 110 kilometers of Ibadan Circular Road, the Dry Port, the Ilutuntun Business District, and other projects. He encouraged residents of the state to remain steadfast, saying: “I know how people are suffering, but sorrow may tarry for the night, joy cometh in the morning. Joy will come to Oyo State and Nigeria.”

The governor held meetings with the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, the Isese Community, CAN executives, Traditional leaders, League Of Imam And Alfas, the Physically-Challenged, Artisans and Market Men and Women in Ido Local Government, and assured them that his administration has delivered on his promises in the health, education, security, and economic expansion sectors, with more to come under Omituntun 2.0.
