Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called for patience from Rivers State residents in “this struggle” while making an allusion to the biblical story of how animals entered the ark of Noah before the flooding event.
The governor declared that the ongoing political turmoil would not weaken the resolve of the people but would instead fortify their unity and strength.
Addressing a delegation of Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic groups during an Eid-el-Fitr visit to his private residence in Port Harcourt, Fubara delivered a defiant speech condemning forces attempting to destabilise the state.
He vowed to resist any efforts aimed at disrupting the peace and economic well-being of the people.
“This is a season of love, sharing, and sacrifice. You have come to share in our pain, and I know that everything happening now is leading us toward a greater purpose. No matter what, we will emerge stronger,” PM News quoted Fubara as saying.
The embattled governor acknowledged the challenges of the political crisis but hinted at divine intervention in the unfolding events.
Emphasising his commitment to justice and equality, he insisted that he would rather endure hardship than compromise on his principles.
Drawing from religious history, he urged patience, saying, “If God could wait for even the snail to enter Noah’s Ark, then patience remains a virtue in our struggle.”
Imagine Rivers State Without a ‘State of Emergency’
Fubara also issued a stern warning to those allegedly plotting chaos in Rivers State, asserting that his administration would not permit political saboteurs to sow instability.
“Their aim is to create instability and cripple livelihoods, but we will not let that happen,” he declared.
He added, “We will continue to respect constituted authority and ensure Rivers State remains a model of peace and governance in Nigeria.”
Muslim leader Nasir Uhor, speaking on behalf of the delegation, pledged unwavering support for Fubara, commending his inclusive leadership style.

He encouraged the governor to remain steadfast, citing Islamic teachings that emphasise patience as a path to divine reward.
Uhor also called on President Bola Tinubu to review the emergency rule in Rivers State and fully restore Fubara’s authority, arguing that despite the political turmoil, the governor has continued to lead effectively.
The ongoing crisis in Rivers State remains a key concern, with stakeholders closely monitoring developments as Fubara and his supporters stand firm against perceived political oppression.
