Fuel Crisis: COYYM Urges Arewa Youth to Cancel Lagos Protest, Demands 100% Crude Supply to Dangote Refinery

The Coalition of Yoruba Youth Movement (COYYM) has urged the Arewa Youth for Good Leadership to jettison her proposed planned protest scheduled to take place in Lagos on March 19, 2026. The issue at hand requires collective and collaborative efforts. All we need to do is to fight for total Supply of Crude oil to Dangote Refinery and all other local refineries so that Nigerian can enjoy a reasonable Fuel Price, the Arewa Youth for Good Leadership should join the Coalition of Yoruba Youth Movement, the National Association of Oduduwa Students (NAOS) and other students and youth organizations in Nigeria to mobilize for total supply of crude oil to Dangote Refinery and all Local Refinery in Nigeria, let’s come together to fight a just cost.

According to COYYM, linking the current fuel scarcity or the increase in fuel prices to the Dangote Refinery is misleading. The group stated that the recent rise in fuel prices is largely influenced by global tensions arising from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has affected the international crude oil market.

COYYM further noted that the Dangote Refinery has not been receiving 100 percent crude oil supply locally and has, at different times, had to import crude from outside Nigeria to sustain its refining operations.

The group therefore urged stakeholders and the public to avoid spreading misinformation and called for calm while efforts continue to stabilize fuel supply and pricing in the country is ongoing, the present situation is a global concern, its not Nigeria alone that the issue has affected, those who behind this should try to acquire more information and stay to be informed on global issues, everyone needs to cry for the total supply of crude oil to Dangote Refinery and all local Refinery in Nigeria.

The Coalition of Yoruba Youth Movement (COYYM) has also warned the groups planning the protest to stay away from the Southwest region, stressing that any action capable of creating tension in the region will not be tolerated.

According to the coalition, the most important protest Nigerians should be demanding at this moment is for the federal government to ensure a full and steady supply of crude oil to the Dangote Refinery. The group maintained that providing 100 percent crude supply to the refinery would significantly help stabilize fuel production and curb the continuous rise in the price of petrol across the country, Nigerian should be aware that Dangote Refinery is only getting about 28% from NNPC . Maximum Dangote Refinery has gotten is about 32% . So , the refinery has to go to traders and middlemen and buy , since Dangote wants to use as much Nigerian crude as possible .

COYYM, therefore, called on the federal government to immediately make available 100 percent crude oil supply to the Dangote Refinery within seven days from the date of this publication.

The coalition warned that if this demand is not met within the stated seven-day period, it will be left with no option but to mobilize thousands of its members and supporters to occupy major roads and international airports across the Southwest and other parts of Nigeria in protest..

We are equal to protect the interest of our dear nation.

Signed:

Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji

National President

Coalition of Yoruba Youth Movement (COYYM)
