His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, made history in 2019 when he was elected as the Executive Governor of Oyo State without having previously held any political office. Governor Makinde has redefined governance in Oyo State through visionary policies, massive infrastructure projects, youth-focused employment initiatives, and people-centered reforms.

Like Governor Makinde, Dr. Otope did not hold any formal political position before playing a pivotal role as the Director-General for the Oyo Central Senatorial District during Makinde’s campaign. His dedication and performance earned him an appointment as the Director-General, Liaison Office (Abuja & Lagos) for Oyo State—a key role he has used effectively to attract opportunities and build bridges for Oyo people.
Dr. Otope’s philanthropic work, especially across the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, is widely recognized. From educational scholarships and healthcare support to empowerment programs and infrastructure assistance, his efforts have touched countless lives. His aspiration to represent the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara in the House of Representatives by 2027 is driven by a sincere desire to continue serving the people at a greater capacity.
Recently, Hon. Mosobalaje Bakare, Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ona-Ara Local Government, drew parallels between Governor Makinde’s early selfless efforts and Dr. Otope’s current contributions. “OTOPE is molded in the likeness of Seyi Makinde.
