REFLECTING ON NIGERIA’S PAST: THE ERA OF PDP (1999-2015) – A Glimpse into a Bygone Era.
Do we really want to return to a time when common Nigerians could afford the following at significantly cheaper rates? Let’s take a trip down memory lane and revisit the prices of essential commodities between 1999-2015:
1. A 50kg bag of rice was ₦6,200
2. Spaghetti was ₦1,100 per carton
3. Indomie was ₦500 per carton
4. A kilo of meat was ₦350
5. A tin of Peak milk was ₦60
6. A sachet of Maggi Star was ₦230
7. Petrol was ₦65-97 per litre
8. US Dollar ₦1 = ₦65
9. Gas was ₦95 per litre
10. A motorcycle (Lifan) was ₦63,000
11. A bag of cement was ₦1,400
12. Transport from Kano to Lagos was ₦2,000
13. A flashy car started from ₦1,000,000 – highest ₦3,000,000
14. Sardine fish was ₦120
15. A tin of Bournvita was ₦550
16. Nescafé was ₦10 original
17. No banditry

19. Sound education
20. Standard healthcare delivery
21. Living in harmony among all tribes, irrespective of religion

As we reflect on these prices, we are reminded of the progress we’ve made and the challenges we’ve faced. If the prospect of returning to an era of affordability, stability, and peace resonates with you, we invite you to join the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and be part of shaping Nigeria’s future.
