…As Sani Sidi Joins APC in Major Political Realignment in Kaduna
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has reaffirmed the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the most credible political platform capable of delivering sustainable development to Nigerians. He made this declaration during a high-profile political gathering in Kaduna State, where Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi, former Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC.
The event witnessed the mass defection of Sani Sidi along with hundreds of his supporters, including several notable former PDP stakeholders, signaling a significant shift in Kaduna’s political landscape.
Welcoming the new entrants, Speaker Abbas described the defection as both “timely and strategic,” asserting that the APC provides a reliable and inclusive platform for leaders dedicated to national progress.
“This is a remarkable day for every APC member in Kaduna,” Abbas stated. “We have not seen such a massive show of support from the opposition in recent years. For months, Governor Uba Sani and I have engaged in conversations with Sani Sidi, urging him to abandon a sinking ship. Thanks to the governor’s tireless efforts, we now welcome him into our fold.”
The Speaker highlighted the developmental achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani as key motivators behind the defections, noting that their governance records exemplify the APC’s commitment to service and transformation.
“You have made the right decision,” Abbas continued. “The APC stands for peace, purpose, and real progress. You are now among allies, and we will ensure you are treated with the dignity and respect of a founding member. You will not regret this move.”
Governor Uba Sani echoed the Speaker’s sentiments, commending Sani Sidi as a principled and respected figure whose decision was driven by a genuine desire to serve the people.
“I am not surprised by his move,” the governor said. “Sani Sidi is not driven by personal gain. He is self-reliant and focused on public service. His choice to join the APC is rooted in his commitment to Kaduna’s development and the wellbeing of its people.”
Sani Sidi Explains His Decision
In his address, Alhaji Sani Sidi clarified that his decision to leave the PDP was based on conviction, not ambition. He expressed strong belief in the APC’s vision and governance track record.
“This was not a selfish decision,” Sani Sidi said. “I joined the APC because of its progressive policies and the tangible achievements we’re witnessing both at the state and federal levels. My supporters and I are ready to work hard to strengthen the party and contribute meaningfully to grassroots development.”
He concluded by pledging his full support to the party’s objectives and reaffirmed his dedication to the people of Kaduna and the broader Nigerian society.
