The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has released a sport-by-sport schedule of events ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Competition.
The global athletic event will feature over 28 games, including boxing, badminton, handball, weightlifting and marathon swimming.
The IOC said around 10,500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees (NOC) operating in different countries will participate in the planned competitions.
The 2024 games will, however, take on an extended scope as the IOC has approved four additional games. These games are youth-centric, according to the IOC.
@Mc_Phils, an X user who regularly posts about sports and adult materials, claimed on Sunday that the coming Olympic games would include live sex competition.
CLAIM: 2024 Olympic games will feature live sex in Paris.
With Mc_Phils large following, the post has recorded substantial engagements. It has been seen by over one million accounts, while it has got 288 reposts and 863 comments in less than three hours.
VERIFICATION: We subjected the claim to fact-checking by consulting official channels of the game organisers.
The competition has been scheduled to start on July 26 and end on August 11, 2024. According to the IOC, the four new games approved are breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing.
The IOC explained the nature of each of these new games. Breaking is a style of dance that originated in the United States in the 1970s and will feature two events: one for men and one women.
Sport climbing involves three formats: boulder, speed and lead. Climbers will climb on outdoor walls for as high as 15 metres in six minutes without having seen the route ahead of time.
Skateboarding allows skateboarders to demonstrate their spectacular skills in two events of two rounds: prelims and finals.
The last game is surfing. Surfers perform manoeuvres and tricks on a wave, the totality of which is scored by five judges based on the variety, type and difficulty of tricks, the IOC stated on its website.
Further review of the 106-page events schedule shows no information suggesting sex competition will be part of the Olympic games.
CONCLUSION: Based on our findings, the claim that live sex or sex competition will be part of the 2024 Olympic games is false.
