EXCLUSIVE: Prominent Oyo Political Leader, Former Senator Resigns from PDP

In a major political development within Oyo State, Senator Agboola Hosea Ayoola, former Senate Deputy Chief Whip (7th National Assembly) and current Chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council, has formally resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter sighted by Egalitarian Voice dated 10th October 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman, Itesiwaju Local Government, Otu, Oyo State, Senator Agboola expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve both at the state and national levels.
“I appreciate the party for the opportunities afforded me to serve as a member and leader of the party as well as the achievements made therein,” he stated.
However, the Senator noted that he had abstained from participating in recent local and state congresses due to what he described as his “future political pursuit,” which he said was necessary at this material time.
Consequently, he announced his official resignation from the PDP effective 10th October 2025, while wishing the party success in its future activities.
The letter, which was also copied to the State Party Chairman at Molete, Ibadan, and the National Chairman at Wadata Plaza, Abuja, marks a significant shift in Oyo’s political landscape, given Senator Agboola’s stature and influence within the PDP structure.
