In a well-attended political gathering at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Ona-Ara Local Government, a prominent youth leader, Hon. Oduola Olumide Sunday, popularly known as ALAYÀKÍ ONA-ARA, officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Council Chairman in the forthcoming local government elections in Oyo State.
The event, which took today March 31, 2026, drew a large crowd of party stakeholders, executives, and supporters, reflecting the aspirant’s strong grassroots acceptance and growing political momentum across the local government area.
Addressing party leaders and faithful, ALAYÀKÍ presented himself as a credible and capable candidate, pledging to run an inclusive government if elected. He expressed deep appreciation to all stakeholders for their support, with a special acknowledgment to Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja (KONGE IRE). His declaration was met with enthusiastic cheers from supporters who chanted, “ALAYÀKÍ ONA-ARA IS OKAY!”
Speaking separately, the Ward Chairman of Ward 9, where ALAYÀKÍ hails from, alongside other party leaders, described him as a true son who has consistently supported the affairs of the party. The local government party chairman, Alfa Kehinde Adeyemo, also commended the aspirant for his loyalty and intellectual depth. “I do listen to some of his interviews on radio stations, and ALAYÀKÍ is very brilliant. He speaks well of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde’s good works. Presently, he is the only person that has shown interest in the chairmanship race, and according to all the leaders, this young man means business. I wish him the best in his ambition,” Adeyemo stated.
The declaration event witnessed the presence of high-profile PDP leaders, including the Oyo State Financial Secretary of the PDP who also serves as SSA to Governor Makinde on SDGs; Alfa Kehinde Adeyemo, PDP Chairman of Ona-Ara Local Government; Hon. Mosobalaje Bakare; Baba Jaiye Bankole; Hon. Nuru Akanni; Hon. Azeez Buniyamin; PDP local government executives; all ward chairmen; representatives of Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja (KONGE IRE); and numerous other supporters and party faithful.
With his declaration, ALAYÀKÍ becomes the first aspirant to formally announce his intention for the council chairmanship seat in Ona-Ara Local Government. Political observers note that his early entry and strong backing from party leaders position him as a formidable contender ahead of the PDP primaries.
