Dr. Fagbemi’s Selflessness in Service: Following the Footsteps of His Mentor, Governor Seyi Makinde – Olajide Olaoluwa Peter

In the rich tapestry of Oyo State’s political and administrative landscape, one name continues to stand out for his unwavering dedication to service — Dr. Akintomide Stephen Fagbemi, the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board. Much like his mentor, Governor Seyi Makinde, Dr. Fagbemi exemplifies a rare blend of selflessness, innovation, and people-centered leadership that has become the hallmark of the Omituntun administration.

A proud Mogaji of the Agunleyinju compound in Ibadan, Dr. Fagbemi brings not just academic and professional excellence to the table, but also a deeply rooted cultural and communal understanding. His service is not driven by politics or the pursuit of accolades but by a sincere desire to uplift the people of Oyo State, a value he clearly shares with Governor Makinde, whose own legacy has been built on transparent governance and human-oriented development.

Dr. Fagbemi’s leadership journey offers compelling evidence of his commitment to public good. During his tenure as Chairman of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Agency (OYRTMA) under Omituntun 1.0, he led a transformative remodification of the agency, turning it from a reactive body into a proactive institution focused on saving lives and reducing traffic gridlock across the state. This reform was not just administrative; it had tangible impacts on daily life for commuters, drivers, and business owners alike.

Now at the helm of the Hospital Management Board, Dr. Fagbemi has turned his attention to one of the most critical areas of public welfare: healthcare. Under his stewardship, the board has seen renewed energy in hospital infrastructure, improved staff welfare, and a stronger focus on patient-centered care. These efforts are aligned with Governor Makinde’s broader vision of making quality healthcare accessible to all, particularly the most vulnerable.

But beyond the walls of public office, Dr. Fagbemi is a philanthropist who continues to support educational, medical, and community development initiatives across Ibadan and beyond. Whether it is sponsoring health outreaches or empowering youths with vocational skills, he is driven by the same philosophy that governs his official duties; service to humanity.

What truly distinguishes Dr. Fagbemi is his humility and sense of duty, qualities he mirrors from Governor Makinde. In a political climate often overshadowed by self-interest and rhetoric, their actions remind us that leadership can still be about empathy, impact, and integrity.

As the Omituntun 2.0 administration progresses, the state is fortunate to have dedicated public servants like Dr. Fagbemi; men and women who not only believe in Governor Makinde’s vision but work tirelessly every day to make it a reality.
