Defection Wave: Senator, Ex-Governor Dump APC, PDP for ADC
In a major political shift, Senator Abubakar Sadiq Yar’Adua of Katsina State has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and officially declared his support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a related development, former Governor of Adamawa State, Mohammed Umaru Bindow, has also dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ADC. Bindow completed his registration and picked up his ADC membership card at his ward in Mubi North Local Government Area.
The former senator and one-time governor, who served as governor from 2015 to 2019 and senator from 2011 to 2015, announced his defection via social media on Sunday. He is expected to play a strategic role in the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

These high-profile defections signal a growing wave of support for the ADC, especially in northern Nigeria. Already, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Senator Aisha Binani—the APC’s 2023 governorship candidate in Adamawa—are said to have joined the party, further boosting its political momentum.
Political analysts say the ADC could become a strong third force ahead of the next election cycle as prominent politicians continue to jump ship. [ Egalitarian Voice]
