BREAKING: GOVERNOR APPROVES 13TH‑MONTH SALARY FOR WORKERS
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has approved the payment of a 13th‑month salary for civil servants in the state, providing an additional financial boost ahead of the festive season. The move is aimed at rewarding public workers and enhancing their welfare.
The 13th‑month pay, often regarded as a “Christmas bonus,” will be included with workers’ December salaries. Governor Eno made the announcement during a church service in Uyo, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of civil servants.
The state government said the payment is part of efforts to ensure timely remuneration and financial support for public workers, especially as the cost of living continues to rise. The bonus comes even as a verification exercise — required before implementing a new minimum wage — is ongoing.
Labour observers say the extra pay is expected to relieve some financial pressure on workers and promote goodwill between the state government and its employees. The 13th‑month salary underscores the government’s focus on supporting public servants and providing incentives for dedicated service.
Governor Eno encouraged workers to continue performing their duties diligently, stating that the welfare of civil servants remains a top priority for his administration.
