BREAKING: Confusion As Plateau Assembly Speaker, Deputy Resign
The member representing Pankshin North in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Gabriel Dawang, on Tuesday emerged the new Speaker.
The emergence of the member of the Young Peoples Party followed the resignation of the former Speaker, Moses Sule, and his deputy, Gwottaon Fom.
Timothy Dantong, representing Riyom constituency, also emerged the new Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
The Speaker and his deputy resigned bearing 24 hours after the Court of Appeal in Abuja sacked the State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.
Both lawmakers are considered associates of the governor and are of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
It’s not clear why the two leaders of the State Assembly reigned as the governor had resolved to appeal the decision at the Supreme Court.
However, Egalitarian Voice Media gathered that their resignations have reportedly caused confusion as to their political leaning and if they were ditching the Governor.
