His Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, made the clarification during a media interaction in Yola over the weekend. Wonosikou emphasized that Governor Fintiri remains a “committed and bona fide member” of the PDP and is focused on his leadership role in organizing the party’s upcoming National Convention.

“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is not leaving the PDP. He remains loyal to the party,” the CPS stated.

The statement comes in response to rising speculation about a possible mass defection of PDP governors to the APC, particularly after Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa officially joined the ruling party, taking with them the entire PDP structure in the state.
Their defection has intensified concerns about the PDP’s stability as the 2027 general elections approach.
APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who welcomed the defectors, recently claimed that more PDP governors were on their way to joining the APC.
