Respected political advocate and humanitarian, Hon. Bolanle Amina Sarumi, widely known as BASA, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on July 13, 2025, in London at the age of 82.
In an official statement personally signed and released to Egalitarian Voice on Monday morning, BASA described the late former president as a significant figure in Nigeria’s political journey. She acknowledged his pivotal roles, from his leadership as military Head of State in the 1980s to his return as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, spanning some of the most defining eras in the country’s history.
BASA’s statement further recognized President Buhari’s dedication to national service, highlighting his efforts in governance, security reforms, and the fight against corruption.

“As the nation mourns the passing of a former leader,” BASA stated, “it is a time for reflection, reconciliation, and recommitment to national unity. Nigeria’s future depends on our ability to rise above our differences and work collectively toward peace, equity, and shared progress.”

She concluded by urging Nigerians across all divides—ethnic, religious, and political—to embrace mutual respect and solidarity, emphasizing that true development can only thrive in an atmosphere of unity.
