Former President Olusegun Obasanjo celebrated his 88th birthday on March 5, 2025, and received widespread tributes from across the country.
Hon. Bolanle Amina Sarumi, popularly known as BASA, a governorship aspirant in the 2027 Oyo State Gubernatorial election, was among those who paid tribute to the former President.
In a statement, BASA described Obasanjo as a true and patriotic Nigerian leader who has worked tirelessly for the development of Nigeria, Africa, and global peace.
“Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is a gift to Nigeria and the world at large. His selfless service to our nation, his commitment to democracy, and his contributions to global peace and development are a testament to his visionary leadership,” BASA said.
BASA praised Obasanjo’s efforts in changing Nigeria’s narrative by laying solid foundations during his tenure as President.
The governorship aspirant also thanked God for giving Obasanjo to the world as a gift and peace ambassador, and prayed that God continues to bless him with good health, wisdom, and strength.
Obasanjo, a former military Head of State and civilian President, has been a dominant figure in Nigerian politics for decades.
