BASA Celebrates the Girl Child on International Day of the Girl Child

Reiterates Commitment to Girl Child Development and Empowerment

As the world marks the International Day of the Girl Child today, October 11th, the Founder of the BASA Foundation, Hon. (Mrs.) Bolanle Aminat Sarumi, GCMW/VHPP — affectionately known as BASA— has extended heartfelt congratulations to every girl child across the globe, especially in Nigeria.

Hon. BASA described the girl child as “a masterpiece of divine creation — intelligent, graceful, resilient, and full of light.” She emphasized that girls embody the beauty of strength, compassion, and purpose, and that when empowered, they have the power to transform homes, communities, and nations.

“I celebrate every girl, every day — as we all should,” BASA said.

“With the right support, girls can become the empowered women of today and the visionary leaders of tomorrow. They are future entrepreneurs, innovators, mentors, household heads, and political leaders. We must give them the opportunity to lead — by putting them at the forefront of change efforts, listening to their voices, responding to their needs, and including them in decision-making spaces.”

BASA highlighted that the International Day of the Girl Child, observed annually on October 11, is a reminder of the need to invest in girls’ education, protect their rights, and promote gender equality in every sphere of society.

She further encouraged girls to hold firmly to positive values, build confidence, and shun social vices, stressing that *education, entrepreneurship, and character development* remain powerful tools for success and nation-building.

“Every girl deserves the chance to dream, to learn, to lead, and to shine. When we uplift one girl, we uplift an entire generation,” BASA added.

The BASA Foundation, through its ongoing programs in education, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and empowerment, continues to champion the cause of the girl child — nurturing confidence, leadership, and purpose in young girls across Nigeria and beyond.
