The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, over his claim that President Bola Tinubu could lose the 2027 presidential election if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar runs alongside either Peter Obi or Rotimi Amaechi.
In a statement, the party’s state spokesman, Seye Oladejo, dismissed the assertion as unfounded and speculative, insisting that Tinubu remains well-positioned for victory in the next election.
Oladejo described the prediction as premature and lacking any basis in current political realities, arguing that there is no evidence to support such a claim.Egalitarian
He maintained that emerging political developments and alignments ahead of the election point instead to a strong position for President Tinubu.
According to him, many of the individuals being suggested as potential challengers are dealing with internal challenges and a lack of unity within their own political circles, making the idea of a major electoral upset unlikely.
He also highlighted the Tinubu administration’s focus on key reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, improving national security, and promoting long-term growth and development.
Oladejo added that the government’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” is addressing structural issues while setting the country on a path toward recovery and progress.

He argued that suggestions of derailing the administration’s current trajectory are unrealistic and do not reflect the broader national outlook.
The APC spokesman further stated that Nigerians are capable of recognising effective leadership and governance, noting that the opposition would need more than rhetoric and media speculation to gain public support.
He also pointed to what he described as internal disorganisation and a lack of clear direction within opposition parties.

Oladejo concluded by urging political actors to focus on meaningful contributions to national development rather than engaging in early election speculation, expressing confidence that Nigerians will continue to President Tinubu as his administration builds on ongoing reforms.
