A Nigerian-Canadian and prominent son of Afijio Local Government Area, Hon. Olaleye Olusegun Thomas has commended the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the commissioning of the newly built Oyo State PDP Secretariat by the party’s National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.
Hon. Thomas made his position known in a statement issued to the media on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, through his Special Assistant on Media.
The newly commissioned secretariat, located in Ibadan, was donated by Governor Seyi Makinde as part of deliberate efforts to strengthen the party’s institutional structure and promote unity and internal cohesion within the PDP in Oyo State.
Describing the event as a historic and symbolic moment, the Afijio-born Nigerian-Canadian politician noted that the presence of the PDP National Chairman at the commissioning underscored the growing strategic importance of Oyo State within the party’s national framework.
Hon. Olaleye Olusegun Thomas (SOT) applauded Governor Makinde for what he described as visionary and people-oriented leadership, stressing that the donation of a permanent party secretariat reflects a deep commitment to party building, unity, and democratic consolidation.
According to him, the new facility will serve as a central hub for coordination, mobilisation, and engagement among party leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters across all local government areas of the state.
He further commended the PDP leadership at both national and state levels for fostering stability, cooperation, and inclusiveness within the party, urging members to make effective use of the secretariat to deepen internal democracy and enhance service delivery to the people of Oyo State.
The commissioning ceremony drew party leaders, elected officials, stakeholders, and supporters from across the state, marking a major milestone in the ongoing strengthening of the PDP in Oyo State.
