The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State has welcomed the lawmaker representing Ibadan North West State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Akanni Olalere, following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Hon. Olalere, in a letter dated February 13, 2026, cited lingering and unresolved internal divisions within the PDP as the reason for his decision to formally withdraw his membership.
Reacting to the development, ADC chieftain and grassroots mobiliser, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi–Aliyu (BASA), described the defection as a bold and timely step.
“I warmly welcome Hon. Akanni Olalere to the ADC family. His decision reflects courage and a clear commitment to progressive politics rooted in unity and service to the people,” BASA stated.
She noted that the ADC continues to grow as a credible alternative for leaders who prioritise stability, inclusion, and genuine grassroots development.
