Femi Adebayo, the popular Nigerian actor, has spoken about what he went through to get the new naira notes.
Businesses and the daily lives of Nigerians have been badly affected by the worsening scarcity of old and new naira notes across the country.
The scarcity of the naira, which has persisted for weeks, has radically altered the economic landscape of businesses, the living conditions of the people and small business operators.
The time star who bemoaned the challenges in obtaining the new naira notes on his Instagram page also described the new notes as “gold.”
He explained that the lack of POS and the refusal of small sellers to accept transfers had made it increasingly impossible to buy minor products like foodstuffs.
Adebayo pointed out that though Nigerians are ready to embrace the cashless system, but the new Naira currency must be made available.
He also expressed his willingness to share his new naira notes without anyone interested as long as they were in close proximity.
He said: “Tell me your location. I know you need this right now and I am ready to share.
“The currency of Nigeria is now gold. Before I got it, I went through hell.
“I wanted to buy little things. I couldn’t get plantain, ewedu, pineapple. No POS and they don’t collect transfer.
“Of course, we are in support of a cashless society but at least make it available.
“So, I am ready to share as long as your location isn’t far.”
