A Canadian-Nigerian, Olusegun Olaleye Who Knows His Onions Applauds Makinde’s Leadership Acumen
In a strong show of admiration and political endorsement, Olusegun Olaleye Thomas, a Canada-based Nigerian professional and former House of Representatives aspirant from Afijio Local Government, has publicly applauded the leadership acumen of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
Olusegun Olaleye, who has earned a reputation both home and abroad as a man who “knows his onions” in governance and political affairs, described Governor Makinde as “a shining example of modern leadership rooted in results, people-focused policies, and integrity.”

Speaking with Egalitarian Voice correspondence, Wisdom Darasimi, Olaleye praised the ongoing transformation across Oyo State, saying it reflects not just vision but the kind of competent leadership Nigeria urgently needs at both state and national levels.
“As someone with global exposure and local relevance, I can confidently say that Governor Seyi Makinde has distinguished himself. He has shown that leadership is not about noise, but about measurable impact — in education, infrastructure, health, economy, and human capital development,” Olaleye said.
Though currently based in Canada, Olusegun Olaleye has remained deeply connected to his roots in Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State. His previous bid for the House of Representatives was driven by a desire to bring global perspectives into local governance, particularly in driving inclusive policies and constituency-based development.

Now, observing from both afar and near, Olaleye believes Governor Makinde’s leadership model is one that should be studied, replicated, and rewarded.
“Governor Makinde is redefining what it means to lead. His performance has placed Oyo State on a pedestal of national admiration. Even the diaspora community watches and draws hope from the stability and progress he has brought to the state,” he added.
Olusegun Olaleye’s commendation adds to a growing list of voices, from traditional rulers to technocrats, civil society leaders to everyday citizens who continue to recognize the strides made under Governor Makinde’s administration since 2019.

“I may be in Canada today, but my heart and commitment remain with the people of Oyo State, especially Afijio. And when I see a governor who is genuinely transforming lives and building a legacy of excellence, I owe it to the people to speak up and celebrate it. Governor Makinde is doing exceptionally well and I salute him,” Olaleye concluded.
