1. Obasanjo Endorses Peter Obi For President, Writes Open Letter To Nigerian Youths
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has openly endorsed the Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
Egalitarian News reports that Obasanjo made his position known in a letter he personally signed, which he addressed to Nigerian youths, titled “My Appeal to all Nigerians, particularly young Nigerians”.
The former Nigerian leader described Peter Obi as “a needle with thread attached to it from North and South and he may not get lost”.
2. 2023: 11 APC Governors, 37 Senators And 15 Reps Working To Put Atiku In Power – PDP Presidential Campaign
The Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization has claimed that eleven Governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are reportedly working underground for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
Daniel Bwala, spokesman of the Atiku Campaign Organisation told Daily Independent that as at first week of December 2022, 37 senators and 15 House of Representatives elected under the platform of APC are working for Atiku’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.
“As early as first week of December, we already have 11 APC governors that are supporting our cause and it is still counting. We have 37 APC senators and 15 House of Reps members. That was first week of December. You can imagine by now how much more we would have gained,” Bwala boasted.
The PDP stalwart stated this while responding to an interview by a former commissioner for Information in Edo state, Prince Kassim Afegbua who claimed that he had it on good authority Atiku met with three APC governors in Dubai.
3. Adeboye To Nigerians: Celebrate For Surviving Murderers In Police Uniforms
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has asked Nigerians to celebrate surviving many challenges that plagued the year 2022.
The renowned cleric said this on Sunday during his New Year sermon at the RCCG National Headquarters in Ebute Metta, Lagos State.
Adeboye said surviving the “murderers wearing police uniforms”, banditry, kidnapping, COVID-19, and other challenges were worth celebrating.
The renowned cleric asked the congregation to go out and celebrate themselves, adding that they were survivors because God was taking care of them.
4. 2023: Kaigama Sends Crucial Message To Tinubu, Atiku, Obi, Others
The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama has warned the 2023 presidential candidates against deceiving Nigerians with unrealistic campaign promises.
In his New Message in Abuja on Saturday, Kaigama asked the flagbearers to campaign without hatred, bitterness, incitement, or misinformation ahead of the 2023 elections.
The cleric expressed hope that peace, social progress, human solidarity and development will characterize all of 2023.
5. PDP Crisis: Four Out Of The G-5 Governors Will Find It Hard To Ask Supporters To Vote For Another Party — Nwodo
A former Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo has said that it would be difficult for four out of the G-5 governors to ask their supporters to vote for another party apart from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Nwodo, who is the former National Chairman of the PDP, argued that three out of the governors are contesting for Senatorial elections which also fall on the same day as the Presidential election.
He stated that this situation would make it difficult for the governors to compel people to support another political party.
6. Atiku’s Camp Reveals Crisis Rocking APC Over Tinubu’s Meeting With Wike, Ortom, Makinde, Others
The camp of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that some candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are against the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu’s meeting with the five aggrieved governors of the PDP.
Reports had emerged last week claiming that Tinubu had met with Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) at his London residence.
But the APC presidential candidate had denied reports of the meeting, stating that he is in Saudi Arabia for Hajj.
In a statement to Egalitarian Voice News on Sunday, Special Assistant, Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, Phrank Shaibu accused Tinubu of telling lies about his meeting with the G-5 governors.
He claimed that APC candidates including Senator Teslim Folarin have kicked against any deal with the PDP governors that will jeopardize his ambition to govern Oyo State.
