As the world marks the International Day of the Girl Child today, October 11, 2026, the Founder of BASA Foundation and PDP Candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Bolanle Amina Sarumi Aliyu, popularly known as BASA, has celebrated girls across the globe, especially in Nigeria.
In her goodwill message, Hon. BASA described the girl child as a special creature of Almighty God, beautifully and specially created.
She noted that the International Day of the Girl Child, celebrated every October 11, aims to focus attention on the importance of girls’ education, their rights, and the promotion of gender equality.
According to BASA, “The girl child is the hope of our tomorrow. We must invest in her education, protect her rights, and give her equal opportunity to thrive.”
In her charge to every Nigerian girl, BASA said, “My dear Nigerian Girl. Your gender is not your limitation, it is your strength”.
Do not let anyone tell you that you are less. You are special, you are beautiful, and you are powerful.
Education is your ladder, character is your beauty, and courage is your voice. Use them.
As a woman, your way to the height is not by pulling other women down, but by lifting as you climb. The world is waiting for your light. Do not dim it. Shine!”
She called on government at all levels, parents, and stakeholders to continue to support and empower the girl child to reach her full potential.
