••• As ALAYÀKÍ ONA-ARA Pledges Grassroots Mobilisation For APC Candidates
The development took place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, as members of the team formally identified with the APC during the party Local Government General Meeting. The defectors were received by the party leadership and executives, who welcomed them into the APC and assured them of inclusiveness and participation within the party structure.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Alayàkí reaffirmed the team’s political direction, declaring its support for the APC candidates across the various elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the team’s votes are for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Sharafadeen Alli for Oyo State Governor, Senator Yunus Akintunde for Oyo Central Senatorial District, Hon. Akin Alabi for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency and Hon. Funmi Obisesan for the Oyo State House of Assembly.
The development adds to recent political realignments involving members associated with Team Arapaja in Oyo State. Olumide Oduola had previously been identified in media reports as the Ona-Ara coordinator of Team Arapaja and has publicly advocated grassroots mobilisation for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
