FIFA SANCTIONS NIGERIA OVER ABUJA STADIUM INVASION
World Soccer Governing Body, FIFA, has sanctioned Nigeria following the pitch invasion by angry fans after the second leg World Cup play-off between Nigeria and Ghana at the Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola Stadium, Abuja, by indefinitely suspending the usage of the Stadium from hosting international matches.
The Super Eagles have also been ordered to play their next home game behind closed doors.
Nigeria has also been ordered to play one match behind closed doors and pay a fine of 150,000 Swiss franc ($154,000) by FIFA for failure to implement existing safety rules and throwing of objects in their World Cup Qualifiers against Ghana.
