Walking by Faith When the Road is Unclear || By Segun Akinlabi (Egalitarian)
Welcome to another weekly episode of Words From The Throne of Mercy by Segun Akinlabi (Egalitarian).

Today, I invite us to meditate on one of the greatest virtues of the Christian life—Faith. We live in a world that constantly demands evidence before belief, certainty before commitment, and guarantees before action. Yet, the Kingdom of God operates on an entirely different principle. God often calls His children to trust Him before they see the outcome. This is the essence of walking by faith.
The Bible declares in 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” This simple but profound statement reminds us that the believer’s journey is not directed by what the eyes can see but by confidence in the unfailing promises of God. Faith does not deny reality; rather, it acknowledges that God’s power is greater than every visible circumstance.
Life is filled with seasons of uncertainty. There are moments when prayers seem unanswered, opportunities appear delayed, and the future looks unclear. During such times, the temptation is to rely solely on human reasoning or become discouraged by present challenges. However, faith teaches us that God’s silence is never His absence. Even when we cannot trace His hand, we can always trust His heart.

Understanding the Wisdom of God Beyond Human Reasoning
One of the greatest examples of unwavering faith is found in the life of Abraham. In Genesis 12:1-4, God instructed him to leave his homeland and journey to a place that had not yet been revealed to him. Abraham had no detailed map, no guarantee of comfort, and no visible assurance except God’s Word. Yet he obeyed. His willingness to trust God beyond human understanding earned him the title, “The Father of Faith.” His story reminds us that obedience often precedes revelation, and faith unlocks divine possibilities.
Another remarkable example is Peter walking on water in Matthew 14:28-31. As long as his eyes remained fixed on Jesus, he defied the laws of nature. The moment he shifted his attention to the raging wind and boisterous waves, fear took over, and he began to sink. How often do we lose our peace because we focus more on our problems than on the God who has power over every storm? Faith flourishes when our eyes remain fixed on Christ rather than on our circumstances.
Perhaps one of the greatest lessons faith teaches is that God’s timing is always perfect. We often desire immediate answers, but God is more interested in preparing us than simply satisfying us. Waiting seasons are not wasted seasons. They are classrooms where patience is developed, character is refined, and trust is strengthened. As Ecclesiastes 3:11 declares, “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time.” What appears delayed from our perspective is often perfectly scheduled in God’s divine calendar.
Faith also empowers us to remain hopeful in difficult seasons. The challenges we face today are not permanent verdicts over our lives. Every trial carries within it an opportunity for God to reveal His glory. Joseph’s imprisonment became the pathway to the palace. Hannah’s years of barrenness prepared the stage for the birth of Samuel. Lazarus’ death became an occasion for Christ to demonstrate His resurrection power. In every situation, God transformed despair into testimony. What He did before, He is still able to do today.
In these challenging times marked by economic hardship, insecurity, uncertainty, and global instability, many hearts are troubled. Families worry about tomorrow. Young people are anxious about their future. Businesses face difficult decisions, and nations seek lasting solutions. Yet God continues to assure His children that He remains sovereign over every circumstance. His promises have not expired, His power has not diminished, and His love has never failed.
Faith does not eliminate storms, but it gives us confidence that we will not be destroyed by them. It assures us that God walks with us through the fire and remains present in every valley. As Isaiah 41:10 declares, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.” When God is with us, fear loses its grip and hope is restored.
The good news is that faith grows as we continually feed on God’s Word. Romans 10:17 tells us, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” The more we meditate on God’s promises, the stronger our confidence becomes. Prayer strengthens our fellowship with Him, obedience deepens our trust, and every testimony reminds us that God is still working miracles today.
As we continue our journey through life, may we choose faith over fear, hope over despair, and trust over anxiety. The road ahead may not always be clear, but the One who leads us has never lost His way. Our responsibility is not to know every detail of tomorrow but to remain faithful to the God who holds tomorrow in His hands.

May your faith remain steadfast, your hope remain alive, and your confidence in God never be shaken. The God who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it, and His plans for your life are far greater than you can imagine.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” — Hebrews 11:1
See you again next week by God’s grace.
Shalom.
