Community Food Support and Nutrition Initiative (Ibadan Foodbank) Releases 2025 Annual Report – Six Years of Nourishing Lives, One Community at a Time

In a season of growing food insecurity across Nigeria, one Ibadan-based NGO continues to show that consistent, community rooted action can make a measurable difference. The Community Food Support and Nutrition Initiative (COFSNI) has released its 2025 Annual Report, marking six years of intentional food support, structured nutrition programming and deepening partnerships in underserved communities across Oyo State.
A New Name. The Same Heart.
2025 was a landmark year for the organisation. After operating as Ibadan Food Bank Initiative since inception, the NGO formally transitioned to Community Food Support and Nutrition Initiative, a name that reflects a broader mandate and expanded scope of impact. The transition signals a strategic repositioning for wider partnerships, stronger institutional systems and long-term sustainability, while the trust and community identity built over six years remain firmly intact.
“What began as a simple but bold vision to combat hunger in our local communities has grown into a structured, purpose-driven movement,” said Popoola Olalekan Samuel, Team Lead and Founder. “For six years, we have remained steadfast ensuring that vulnerable households, children and underserved communities have access to food support and nutrition-focused interventions.”

The 2025 Annual Report documents a year of broad community reach and sustained programming:
• 750 Direct Beneficiaries supported across programmes
• 1,007 Indirect Beneficiaries reached through ripple effect
• 120 Volunteers engaged throughout the year
• 4 Capacity Building Virtual Events held for volunteer development
• 6 Corporate Organisations partnered for programme delivery
• 10 Non-Profit Organisations collaborated with for food relief distribution
These numbers represent real families, real children, and real communities across Ibadan and beyond.
Programme Highlights
FOCDEP – Food Comfortability Development Program COFSNI’s flagship community outreach programme continued to identify and support vulnerable households with Boxes of Love carefully packed food items providing families with essential nutrition to last several days. Each box represents a deliberate act of compassion, designed to address not just hunger but dignity.
Ibadan Food Bank releases its 2024 Annual Report with Audited Financial and Impact Stewardship
EDUFEED – Ibadan Education Feeding Program In 2025, the EDUFEED programme reached 120 pupils across four schools – New Glory School, Young Ambassadors Citadel of Learning, Excellent Foundation Nursery & Primary School and Glorious Generation Group of Schools with 250 meals served and 30 volunteers engaged. The programme is rooted in a simple but powerful belief that a child who is fed can learn and a child who learns can break the cycle of poverty.

Ibadan Hunger Walk 4.0 Under the theme One Step, One Meal, One Future, the fourth edition of the Ibadan Hunger Walk Campaign brought together youth, NGOs, CBOs, CSOs, SDG advocates, government stakeholders including the Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports and volunteers for a city-wide movement against hunger. The annual walk raised funds and food donations, distributed food relief to vulnerable families and deepened community engagement around the zero hunger agenda.
Walk-In Food Relief & Radio Outreach Beyond structured programmes, COFSNI responded to urgent food needs through its Walk-In Food Relief initiative and expanded community awareness through radio campaigns on Dominion 106.1FM and Adamimogo 105.1FM reaching listeners with both information and direct food support.
None of this was possible without the generosity of donors and the dedication of strategic partners. COFSNI acknowledges the support of Pemnia Wellness, Bovas and Company Limited, Party Pack by May, and Royal Ivy Nigeria Limited, alongside government partnerships with the Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Oyo State Youth Development Agency. Media partners including Ibadan247, Egalitarian News, and several creative agencies helped amplify the organisation’s voice throughout the year.
