Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi–Aliyu (BASA), on Saturday, May 2, 2026, obtained the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Expression of Interest and Nomination Form to contest the Oyo South Senatorial seat in the forthcoming general elections.

Sarumi–Aliyu stated that her campaign would be driven by a commitment to legislative excellence, youth empowerment, and sustainable development across the Oyo South Senatorial District.

Speaking with journalists shortly after obtaining the form in Ibadan, she paid glowing tribute to the Oyo State PDP Leader, His Excellency, Barr. Hazeem Gbolarumi, describing him as a father figure whose humility, wisdom, and consistent leadership have strengthened the party and inspired a new generation of politicians to embrace public service with integrity and courage.

She also commended PDP chairmen across the nine local government areas of Oyo South Senatorial District for their loyalty, grassroots mobilisation, and dedication to party unity. She further acknowledged party leaders nationwide for promoting internal democracy and ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants.
“I am profoundly grateful to our great party, the PDP, and to our leaders, elders, women, youths, and all stakeholders in Oyo South who continue to believe in this shared vision. The decision to pick the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form today represents a collective stride towards building a more prosperous Oyo South Senatorial District,” Sarumi–Aliyu said.

Party sources revealed that her declaration has generated significant enthusiasm across the district. Several ward chairmen and women leaders pointed to her track record of service, as well as the enduring legacy of her late father—who represented Ibadan North Federal Constituency between 1999 and 2003—as key factors fueling widespread support for her candidacy.

Sarumi–Aliyu emphasised that her aspiration is anchored on effective representation, impactful legislation, and constituency-driven projects aimed at delivering measurable improvements in the lives of the people.
