Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi Aliyu (BASA), a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and aspirant for the Oyo South Senatorial District, has thrown her weight behind former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, describing him as a true leader committed to the growth of his people.

BASA made the declaration on Thursday evening during a courtesy visit to Barrister Gbolarumi at his residence in Ibadan.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, BASA praised Gbolarumi’s track record of leadership and grassroots development. “Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi is a true leader who grows his people. His influence and commitment to the welfare of others are evident, and I am proud to stand in solidarity with him,” she said.

The visit is seen as a strategic move by the PDP senatorial aspirant to consolidate support from key party stakeholders ahead of the upcoming elections. While BASA did not explicitly state the purpose of the meeting beyond the solidarity visit, political observers note that aligning with a seasoned politician like Gbolarumi could bolster her campaign for the Oyo South ticket.
Barrister Gbolarumi, who served as deputy governor under the late Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, remains a respected figure within the Oyo State PDP. He welcomed BASA and her team, though he did not immediately comment on the upcoming senatorial race.

The development signals ongoing political realignments within the PDP in Oyo State as aspirants seek endorsements from influential party elders.
