Electricity Challenges: NANS Zone D Deputy Coordinator Leads Delegation on Fact-Finding Engagement with Minister of Power

As part of efforts to understand and address the persistent electricity challenges affecting Nigerian students and the wider public, the Deputy Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone D, Ridwan Ademola Adegoke Pal. Solution embarked on a fact-finding mission to engage relevant authorities in the power sector.

During this engagement, the Deputy Coordinator met with Hon. Awogboro, who represented the Honourable Minister of Power, to deliberate on the state of electricity supply and the concerns being raised by students and communities across the country.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the student leadership to present the experiences of Nigerian students who continue to face difficulties due to unstable power supply. The Deputy Coordinator emphasized that poor electricity supply does not only affect academic performance but also places additional financial pressure on students who are forced to depend on alternative power sources such as generators and solar systems. The broader impact on businesses, community security, and economic productivity was also highlighted during the discussion.

In response, Hon. Awogboro acknowledged the concerns raised and gave an account of the various efforts being undertaken by the Honourable Minister of Power (Chief Bayo Adelabu) to improve the electricity sector in Nigeria. He explained that the Ministry has been working on several initiatives and reforms aimed at strengthening power generation, transmission, and distribution across the country.

Hon. Awogboro further assured that the Honourable Minister remains committed to intensifying efforts in the sector and will continue to mobilize the necessary resources required to improve electricity supply for Nigerians. According to him, the Ministry recognizes the importance of stable electricity in supporting education, economic growth, and national development.

The engagement reflects the commitment of student leadership to constructive dialogue with responsive government institutions in addressing national challenges. By seeking clarity and engaging relevant authorities, the National Association of Nigerian Students aims to ensure that the voices and concerns of students are adequately represented in discussions that affect our academic and social wellbeing.
