Hon. Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on terrorism charges. The ruling was delivered on November 20, 2025, after a dramatic courtroom session where Kanu was expelled for unruly conduct.

Kanu disrupted proceedings, shouting at the judge and questioning the legal basis of the charges: “Which law states that you can charge me on an unwritten law? Show me. Omotosho, where is the law?” He accused Justice Omotosho of bias and declared any judgment “complete rubbish.” Following repeated interruptions, security operatives escorted Kanu out of the courtroom, allowing the judge to proceed with the verdict in his absence
Justice Omotosho convicted Kanu on Count One of the terrorism charges, confirming the Federal Government’s case against him. The judge emphasized that Kanu’s bail plea was barred by law and that the trial had reached the stage where judgment must be delivered. Sentencing is expected to follow later.
MNK has an option of appeal upon conviction.
