In a bold step toward building Oyo State’s creative economy and empowering young people, Governor Seyi Makinde has facilitated the training of 150 youths across the state in filmmaking and digital storytelling. This laudable initiative, executed in partnership with Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Film & Television Academy, demonstrates the administration’s firm commitment to job creation, innovation, and youth development.
The training program, designed to equip participants with hands-on skills in various aspects of film production which includes: directing, cinematography, editing, and scriptwriting—reflects Governor Makinde’s vision of transforming Oyo State into a hub for the creative and digital economy.

In his welcome address, the Chairman, Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Akinwale Akinwole (Wolekanle), urged the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of Oyo State and their respective local governments. He emphasized the importance of discipline, dedication, and creativity in maximizing the rare opportunity provided by the state government. Wolekanle also praised Governor Makinde’s foresight in using strategic partnerships to drive youth capacity development and unlock new frontiers in the creative industry.
As an ally, associate and loyalist of His Excellency from 2003, Moyosoreoluwa Olamilekan Eldreez (IJOBA AUTHORITY MOE), commend the Governor for this progressive move and also applaud the Chairman, Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Prince Adebowale Adebayo Falana (FAA), for his unwavering support and coordination in ensuring the successful implementation of this initiative.
This synergy between government leadership and youth-focused agencies underscores a shared commitment to nurturing talent, reducing unemployment, and fostering sustainable growth. The program not only prepares participants for global opportunities but also strengthens the cultural and economic fabric of Oyo State.
Indeed, under Governor Seyi Makinde’s Logic, Science and Data driven leadership, Oyo youths are not just being empowered—they are being prepared to lead the future.
