Tragedy Hits Nollywood: Popular Actor Dies, Fans In Mourning
The Nollywood industry has been plunged into grief following the passing of veteran actor, Duro Michael.
His death was announced by Nollywood producer Stanley Ontop, who broke the news via his Instagram page.
According to Stanley, Michael reportedly died a few days ago after a long battle with a terminal illness.

He wrote: “Nollywood actor Duro Michael has passed on. He died a few days ago after struggling with a terminal illness… may his soul rest in peace. Omo, it’s painful. We don’t support one another enough in Nollywood, and it’s truly sad… no synergy.”
In 2022, Michael, who had been bedridden, received ₦5 million from Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin to support his medical treatment, though his health later deteriorated.By 2024, he appealed to producers for financial help and pleaded to be cast in films to sustain himself.
Michael starred in several Nollywood classics, including Midnight Love (2003) and The Guilty (2006).

Meanwhile, in a separate development, actor Yul Edochie expressed concerns over the dwindling use of the Igbo language among the younger generation.

In a Facebook post, the father of five lamented that many Igbo children can no longer speak their native tongue, describing the situation as a failure that parents and the community must urgently address.
