JUST IN: PDP NEC Appoints Substantive National Chairman
The 102 National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Amb Iliya Damagum as the substantive National Chairman of the Party.
Egalitarian Voice reports that Damagum appointment was announced at the PDP’s ongoing NEC at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting, which began at 2 pm, discussed key issues, including the report of the National Zoning Committee and preparations for the party’s forthcoming national convention.
Party insiders told Punch that today’s session is considered a pivotal moment for the PDP as it works to position itself ahead of the 2027 general election.

Egalitarian Voice had earlier reported that during the 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, the future of some top members accused of anti-party activities, including Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, is expected to be decided.
The Tom Ikimi-led disciplinary committee has already submitted its report to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), recommending sanctions against members indicted in petitions for working against the PDP during the last general elections.
