..…Warns consumers of health risks as counterfeit products flood market
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert on the circulation of counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachets across Nigeria.
In a statement released on Friday, the agency disclosed that Promasidor Nigeria Ltd—the authorised manufacturer of Cowbell products—had drawn its attention to fake variants in circulation, designed to closely resemble the original Cowbell “Our Milk” sachet.
NAFDAC clarified that Promasidor discontinued the production of Cowbell “Our Milk” in September 2023, replacing it with Cowbell Our Creamy Goodness. The counterfeit products currently in the market are fraudulent imitations of the phased-out brand.

According to the agency, the fakes were neither produced nor distributed by Promasidor, but rather bear the unlawful use of the Cowbell trademark, packaging design, and even a falsified NAFDAC registration number.
The regulatory body warned that consuming these counterfeit products could expose Nigerians to toxic substances, harmful additives, or diluted ingredients, resulting in food poisoning, allergic reactions, organ damage, or even death. Infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly were identified as particularly at risk.
