In a remarkable display of swift action and local vigilance, the Oyo State Amotekun Corps in Kajola Local Government Area, in collaboration with Operation Burst, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies, successfully rescued Alhaji Sikiru Gbanigbani, 48, from kidnappers on Thursday night, August 14, 2025.
The abduction occurred around 8:50 PM near Baptist High School, Ilero Road, in Kajola Local government when the victim was reportedly seized by unknown assailants. A distress call quickly alerted the Kajola Amotekun unit, which mobilized immediately alongside partner security forces.
After tense hours of tracking the kidnappers, Alhaji Gbanigbani was rescued unharmed at approximately 10:58 PM, with no ransom paid.
In a statement, the Oyo Amotekun Corps commended the swift coordination among all security agencies and emphasized the importance of community vigilance. Residents of Kajola LGA were urged to report suspicious activities to prevent similar incidents.
