See what Late Olubadan Olakulehin’s Family is Planning that’s Turning Heads

In a move that has stirred admiration across Ibadanland and beyond, the family of the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, is set to honour the revered monarch with the public presentation of a compelling new book titled “How Not to Be a King.”

The event, which was originally planned as part of the monarch’s 90th birthday and first coronation anniversary, will now be held as a major component of his final rites.

Egalitarian Voice reports , according to the royal family, the book launch will take place on Friday, July 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.

The book, “How Not to Be a King,” captures the life, legacy, and leadership principles of the late Oba Olakulehin. It features powerful reflections and tributes from family members, respected figures in Ibadan’s traditional institution, and members of the Olubadan-in-Council.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Chief Solomon Ayoade, the late king’s Chief Press Secretary, stated that the publication aims to immortalize the monarch’s ideals of wisdom, modesty, and unity—qualities that defined his reign and endeared him to the people of Ibadan.

The event is expected to attract a distinguished audience, including Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, traditional rulers, cultural custodians, and prominent figures from across the nation.
