Two Years in Office: Under Dikko’s Watch, Pacesetter Transport Expands to 39 Routes, Launches CNG Buses, Among Others

Since assuming office two years ago, Hon. Dikko Salami has steered Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS) through a period of unprecedented growth and modernization.

Under his leadership, the agency has expanded its intra-city routes from just 2 to an impressive 39 within Ibadan Metropolis, while also pioneering inter-state operations with 20 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses now serving key corridors like Ibadan–Lagos and Ibadan–Abuja. From staff welfare reforms to digital transformation and infrastructure upgrades, Dikko’s tenure has positioned PTS as a forward-thinking transport model in Oyo State and beyond.

Pacesetter Transport Services – Achievements and Milestones

1. General Operations & Expansion

  • Expanded intra-city routes from 2 to 39 routes within Ibadan Metropolis, with 55 operational buses.
  • Launched inter-city services with 12 buses now covering Iseyin, Saki, Ibarapa, Oyo, and Ogbomosho.
  • Increased commercial hiring routes to 7 organizations using 19 dedicated buses.
  • Initiated inter-state routes: Ibadan–Lagos and Ibadan–Abuja with 20 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses.
  • Developed new Pacesetter Terminals in Ibadan, Lagos, and Abuja.
  • Current fleet strength: 81 buses
  • 55 intra-state routes
  • 2 inter-state routes

2. Staff Welfare Initiatives

  • Commenced payment of Gratuities and Pensions from 1994 to date.
  • Ensured regular and timely payment of salaries.
  • Implemented minimum wage structure and workforce restructuring.
  • Promoted senior staff into managerial roles.
  • Recruited new drivers and bus supervisors to support operational growth.
  • Appointed new directors for key aspects of the company.
  • Reintroduced OYSHIA Health Insurance Scheme for staff.
  • Introduced allowances (e.g., overtime, night trip, and special trip allowances).
  • Engaged NYSC Corps Members across departments.
  • Provided festive packages to all staff during celebrations.
  • Introduced branded uniforms, dress code policies, and official ID cards.

  1. Human Resources
  2. ICT
  3. Business Planning
  4. Public Relations
  5. Logistics
  6. Legal Unit
  7. Media Unit
  8. Customer Service

3. Infrastructure Development

  • Upgraded all offices with modern workstation setups.
  • Purchased a new industrial generator for reliable power supply.
  • Installed intercom systems across all offices.
  • Deployed solar street lighting within premises.
  • Equipped offices with laptops and desktops.
  • Ensured 24-hour security presence at all facilities.
  • Supplied mechanical working tools and safety equipment for operational/technical staff.

4. Technological Advancements

  • Launched the Pacesetter Card for seamless electronic fare payments.
  • Integrated inclusive ticketing platforms with e-ticket printouts.
  • Equipped the ICT Department with up-to-date devices.
  • Installed CCTV cameras in all Omituntun Buses and PTS facilities.
  • Equipped buses with GPS trackers.
  • Provided free WiFi:
  • In all Omituntun and CNG buses

For staff within PTS premises

  • Digitized internal systems with administrative software for HR, operations, and finance.
  • Installed inverters to maintain power supply in key offices.
  • Deployed solar lighting and CCTV surveillance across the PTS compound.
