All members of the House of Representatives from Delta State elected under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as of Tuesday, May 6, 2025
Their defection was formally announced by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas during a plenary session of the House.
In separate letters submitted to the House, the lawmakers cited internal crises and leadership issues within the PDP—both at the zonal and national levels—as the reasons for their departure.

Those who defected include Victor Onyemaechi Nwokolo (Ika North East/Ika South), Julius Gbabojor Pondi (Burutu), Thomas Ereyitomi (Warri Federal Constituency), and Nicholas Ebomo Mutu (Bomadi/Patani).
This mass defection follows a similar move by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who left the PDP for the APC just two weeks earlier. He was joined by his deputy, Monday Onyeme, members of the state executive council, and key PDP stakeholders.
Former Delta State Governor and PDP’s 2023 vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, has also crossed over to the APC.
Their defection was celebrated at a grand rally in Asaba, attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, several APC governors, and top party officials.
