1.The Joint Action Committee of the Non-Academic Staff Union and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities has announced an indefinite shutdown of university activities nationwide starting today, Monday.

2.The Nigeria Labour Congress criticized the International Monetary Fund on Sunday for denying responsibility for the Nigerian government’s recent removal of fuel subsidies. The congress labeled the denial as cynical and part of the IMF and World Bank’s ongoing trend of enforcing harsh economic measures on developing nations.

 

3.Officials from the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency revealed on Sunday that they rejected a N10 million bribe intended to release drug suspect Tsolaye Eburajolo, who was apprehended in Lagos. The agency also seized 26.25 million pills of tramadol and 508,400 bottles of codeine-based syrup, valued at N16.68 billion.

4.Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, stated on Sunday that the aviation sector has a high mortality rate, resulting in the closure of over 100 airlines in the past 40 years. He assured that the current administration aims to prevent further airline failures.

5.Mr. Peter Obi expressed grave concern on Sunday regarding persistent power outages affecting many regions, particularly in the northern, eastern, and south-south states. In a series of tweets, he lamented the total blackouts experienced in these areas, especially in the North.

6.Borno State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, warned that Vice President Kashim Shettima’s life is at risk due to the “faulty” presidential aircraft he uses for official duties. He called for a replacement aircraft for the VP.

 

7.Dangote Cement Plc announced over the weekend that it has invested more than $280 million in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) technology and infrastructure. The company claims this investment has made it the operator of the largest fleet of CNG trucks, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s push for cheaper and cleaner energy solutions.

8.The presidency dismissed the “T-Pain” nickname aimed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday, calling it a mischievous non-issue. Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga defended the president, asserting that Nigeria is on a steady path to recovery and growth.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics on Sunday, Onanuga dismissed social media nicknames labelling Tinubu as “T-pain” as mischievous, reiterating that the President is committed to turning Nigeria’s economic fortunes around.

9.The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) announced it is deploying a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to locate the wreckage of a Sikorsky 76C helicopter that ditched into the Atlantic Ocean near Bonny, Rivers State. This deployment aims to recover critical components, including the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder.

10.An Anglican priest, Ven David Arinze Ajaefobi, Archdeacon of Oyi Central Archdeaconry and Vicar of St. James’ Parish in Awkuzu, has been kidnapped. Reports indicate he was taken by unidentified individuals on Saturday night.
