The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has spoken out about his harrowing experience in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies.
Ajaero, who was arrested and detained on Monday, revealed that his phones and international passport were seized by the DSS, but were later returned to him on Tuesday.
He described his ordeal as a public embarrassment, stating that he was interrogated by both the DSS and the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), who asked him repetitive questions about his involvement with various individuals and organizations.
Ajaero accused the security agents of searching for evidence to “nail” him and the NLC, and alleged that they were attempting to intimidate and persecute them.
